PARAMETRIC STEEL

Work in Progress by Akihiro Moriya, a student in my FABCRAFT spring seminar.

The steel component geometry is produced parametrically using a grasshopper definition controlled by the surface geometry. The steel is plasma-cut on our combination 5-Axis mill and plasma cutter. The machine, designed and fabricated by Mike Calvino of Tampa, Florida, is allowing us to produce complex geometrical components in steel, wood and plastics. The finished work will demonstrate the feasibility of using custom fabricated components for site-specific installations in Fayetteville.
